Rev. Phillip Lewis was the guest preacher for Trustees Day on Sunday, October 19, 2014. He was accompanied by his church's Men Chorus and several members.

He used Jeremiah 9:23-24 and l Corinthians 1:28-31 for scripture reference.  His topic was "Knowing Him"

Rev. Lewis put emphasis on being trustworthy, willing to help others and sharing your resources.  Also, a christian should glorify God in their walk, talk and living.  Emphasis was also put on studying God's Word. Don't rely solely on the corporate world teaching for doing God's work.

Rev. Carl Johnson, Pastor of Mt Pleasant Baptist, Alexandria, VA, guest speaker for Warner Baptist's 94th church anniversary

Article 11, Volume 4

Rev. Carl Johnson  preached the final night of Warner Baptist week long anniversary services.

The final night of services for the anniversary was Friday, October 17, 2014

Rev. Johnson used Acts 27th chapter, in part, for his scripture.

Rev Johnson delivered a timely message about what God can do. He preached for about 55 minutes to the church's near capacity  congregation.  Length of speaking time didn't seem to matter to the gathered audience.  As he closed out his sermon, the hand clapping, foot stomping and amen shouting congregation continued to express their joy for a short period. The listeners  appeared ready to stay and listen to more gospel preaching if the pastor continued.  But he had to conclude at some point.

Rev. Johnson is a dynamic preacher of the gospel.

As the service concluded, I thought about how the Warner Baptist Church  family had been blessed to hear five pastors deliver messages, on different days this week.

Plans are already in the making for the 95th Anniversary next year!

Mrs. Gwendolyn Haight is the chairperson of the Anniversary Committee.

Bible Study Class Outline and Guide for September 30, 2014

             September 30, 2014
The Last Kings of Israel and Judah (l  Kings and 2 Kings )

Tonight: 2 Kings,Chapter 14 and Chapter 15 (October 7, 2014)

We started this quarter on Sept 9 by studying Chapter 9.  Since then we have studied Chapter 10 through 13.  The one constant about all of the kings is they were all killed in office (to be verified).  Another thing we noticed is all of the kings in Israel and Judah  were described as BAD or MOSTLY BAD.

You may be wondering how can this be true, if they are God's chosen people.  That is a question for the class tonight.

Tonight we are going to follow this outline and engage in more discussion and less reading.

Chapter 14
Amaziah Reigns over Judah
Amaziah was the son of Jo'ash of Judah. He reign for 25 years.  He did good for awhile.  But there were some things he just let be.  What were they?

As soon as he got entrenched in his position, he killed some people. Why?  Was that a good thing to do?

Looking back, did Solomon try to settle some old matters relating to his father, David?
(Relate to present)

He became impatient in office and wanted to fight Israel?  Why did he want to do that?
(Relate to present)

Who was the King of Israel that defeated Amaziah?  You are right.  Now, what did he take from Judah?  (and they suppose to be brothers).

Jeroboam II Reigns over Israel

Jeroboam was the son of Jo'ash of Israel.  He reign for 41 years. He did was evil in the sight of the Lord.

He did some good things. Like what?  Did the good out weigh the bad?  Think of the boy who was bad all day, but gladly brought the wood in for the fire place at night. (What is the point I'm trying to make?)

Despite, their evil ways and deeds God spared them.  Why?

Did somebody kill King Jeroboam II?

Chapter 15 (Present on October 7, 2014)

Azariah Reigns over Judah

He was 16 years old when he became king and he reign for 52 years.

He did what was right, except them folks in the hill kept doing their thing in the hills on Judah's soil. Why didn't he drive them out?

The king was struck with leprous. Then what happened?

He was succeeded by Jotham. We will talk about him later.

Zechariah Reigns over Israel

Zechariah was the son of Jeroboam.  He reigned over Israel for six months.  During his reign he did what was evil in the sight of the Lord. He was killed in public by Shal'lum son of Jabesh.  Then, Shal'lum became king.  Why did he kill Zechariah?

Read Verse 12.  Remember God's promise to Jehu? What was the promise?

Shal'lum reigned for 1 month, then he was killed by Men'a-hem.

Men'a-hem ruled for 10 years. He did what was evil in the sight of  Lord.

Why did he kill all the pregnant women?

Why did he give King Pul of Syria lots of money?

Do we have these kind of things happening today?

After Men'a-hem, the next King was Pekahiah.  He reigned for 2 years.

He did evil in the sight of the Lord.

Pekah, his captain, conspired with 50 others and killed him in the palace.

Then Pekah ruled for 20 years.

Hoshea killed Pekah and he reign for 9 years.

Jotham reigned over Judah for 25 years.

Rev. Jerry Bryant pastor of Chantilly Baptist was the guest preacher at Warner Baptist annual Deaconess Day service

Article 7, Vol 4

Warner Baptist Celebrates its Annual Deaconess Day

On Sunday, March 9, 2014 Reverend Jerry Bryant was the guest preacher at the Deaconess Day Service.  He was accompanied by several members of his church that included deacons, deaconesses, ushers, musicians, choir, and others.

He used Psalm 91 for his scripture. In his message he stressed that God is able and Christians should stay under his wings because God can provide. If you trust and believe in God he will be your refuge and fortress in life.

Anyway, I recommend you read Psalm 91 in its entirety.

Chantilly's choir, the "Visions of Zion" with Sister Renae Barr, at the piano, rendered some beautiful songs.  I mean, they were really into what they were singing.

I didn't ask them if they had a CD on the market.

Other guests for the service included:  Deaconess Dora Brooks, Oak Shade Baptist Church, Catlett,
Virginia; Deaconess Louise Taylor, Peach Baptist, Dunn Loring, VA; Deaconess Barbara White, Mt Pleasant Baptist, Alexandria, VA and Dr. Janice Winters of Resurrection Baptist in Reston, Virginia.

Oh, before we entered the Sanctuary for worship service we were treated to a full course delicious meal by Warner Baptist renowned culinary ministry. Their service was exceptional.

Deaconess Regina Crawley is the Chairperson of Warner Baptist Deaconess Ministry and Reverend Matthew J. Pearson is the pastor.

The weather forecast for Saturday is not favorable. But even if it is sunny and bright the parking lot might be a challenge.

Rather than deal with the potential challenges, the responsible person(s) decided to just reschedule the activity until an undetermined date in March 2014.
